Those are actually a different type of standoff that are intended to recess into the PC board. They might work if you make the hole in your custom PC board the right size for them to fit in, but I'm pretty sure the hole on the Edison board is too small (it looks like it needs a 2.5mm hole). I think the diameter is also larger, but that's not as critical.
