Kurt, With your suggestion of adding /etc/asound.conf, I still got the same errors when trying to run mpg123 to play mp3. But I was able to play a .wav file now using the "aplay" tool via the USB sound card. It's one step closer. But I still need to figure out how to get an mp3 player to work. Are you aware of any other mp3 player available for Edison besides mpg123? The one I used on RPi is actually mpg321.
