Thanks for those suggestions.
- I did a complete uninstall of the Intel USB 3.0 driver from Programs and features. I actually never uninstalled from the Device Manager. This had no effect
- The Intel back panel ports have the same symptoms as the front panel ports. The problem is limited to a USB 3 device plugged into any Intel USB 3 port
- My USB 3.0 device plugged into any Intel USB 3.0 port => Device disconnect/reconnects, instability, does not work
- USB 2.0 device plugged into any Intel USB 3.0 port => Works fine
- USB 3.0 device plugged into Intel USB 2.0 port => Works fine
- USB 3.0 device plugged into ASMedia USB 3.0 port => Works fine
- I do only have one USB 3.0 device, a Western Digital Elements External HD. There is no updated firmware for it.
- On that same note, I would like to test with other USB 3.0 devices and I'll try to get some soon.
Once I figured out that the problem was limited to the Intel ports, I posted here, hoping there may be some driver issue that I could solve which would be preferable to RMAing the motherboard.
I have support ticket open with Asus as well and I'll post back if I find a solution, otherwise it looks like the motherboard may be faulty.
