Re: Widi & Windows 8.1 problems

Hey guys,

I just wanted to chime in my issue in case there's a solution at this time. My setup does not involve a laptop, but rather a custom-built desktop that I just upgraded to an Intel Core i7 3770 CPU with Intel Wireless AC 7260 adapter which I'm trying to project to a TV in the same room that has a Netgear P2TV3000 attached with latest drivers. I'm running Windows 8.1 with all the available updates and have run the WiDi Update Tool which says everything is up to date and I should be able to project my PC.

However, my issue is similar to what others are experiencing. When I access the project menu through Charms -> Devices, I do not have an option to add a wireless display, probably because I am running three monitors, two via DVI to a discrete Nvidia GTX 660 graphics card and my main display via HDMI to the integrated graphics on my motherboard which is running Intel HD Graphics 4000 v 10.18.10.3316. I also tried disabling the GTX660 to see if that would work, but no dice.

Initially I had all monitors on the Nvidia card but read elsewhere that at least one display needed to be on the integrated graphics which prompted the switch but did not yield any results apart from clearing up an error in the WiDi software setup about the graphics card not having the correct drivers.

I seem to be stuck after running the Update Tool as now when I run WiDI-Setup4.2.24.0.exe I am receiving an error that states "Your operating system is not compatible with Intel(R) WiDi." Sorry, what? I'm running Win 8.1 x64 Pro which according to your site is supported. What gives here???

I'm not sure if I need this software to project or not as I can go into devices and add the P2TV3000, see it and pair using a code it provides. However, after pairing I still cannot see a way to project to that device.

Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated. I spent quite a bit of money to upgrade my system for this WiDi feature among other performance enhancements and Bluetooth, but the fact I can't do something that should be so simple and states is in fact supported is highly frustrating. Thanks for your time!
