Trying to use My WiFi Desktop to create personal hotspot

$

dI am connected to a wireless network (at a hotel) and I would like to use my laptop as a hotspot for my phone. I can connect to the wifi network using the laptop and phone directly, although only one connection at a time is possible.

My laptop has an Ultimate-N 6300 card. I have Wireless_15.6.1_s64 drivers installed. I installed Intel My WiFi Dashboard_15.6.0_64. I enabled the hotspot feature and I am able to connect my phone to the hotspot. However, it does not work.

When I look at network and sharing center, there is an adapter for the personal hotspot. It shows "no internet access". When I look at the properties, under sharing, it says internet connection sharing has been disabled by the network administrator. I'm assuming that is why it's not working, but I'm not logged on to the corporate network so I don't think group policy should be being enforced.

I tried looking at the policies using gpedit.msc. The policy to prohibit the use of ics on the dns is disabled. Also, the ics service is set to automatic. If I try to start it, it shuts down, saying it will start when it's required.

Anyone know of a way around this? Is it possible the problem is because the versions don't match on the driver and the dashboard?

Thanks for your help.

Enable Acceleration is not available in IRST User Interface

rsThe enable acceleration option isn't listed at all. Why?

Board is a DZ68VZ

RST RAID driver version 12.6

RAID 1 volume is consistent with no errors and is in continuous update mode.

I have looked for a list of reasons why the UI would fail and haven't found anything. Is there a utility that can examine the system and provide the reason why acceleration is not an option?

This is my RAID volume:

Connecting 2 USB Webcams to a NUC

I plan to buy a NUC either  i3 or the celeron version. I need the USB bus bandwidth to support 2 webcams.

Are the USB ports (1 x front and 2 x back) sharing the same USB root hub off the Express Chip Set?

Thanks.

Hi gidadra,

I recommend contacting the motherboard/computer manufacturer in order to check which is the graphics port that has priority during POST/Boot.

Sometimes this is a setting that can be set in the BIOS directly.

Mark,

No worries at all. I appreciate your help. I think I was able to narrow down my problem with the system slowdown. Ended up being a stray process that happened to pop up at the same time as the teaming. Took forever to find  it. Just seemed like a coincidence.

I ended up teaming my 82574L on-board NIC with the CT add-on NIC. I created a LAG team with the default settings.

All seemed to work well except I am seeing a strange problem that maybe you can help with or explain.

Like I said, I created the team with the above ports. When I check the status of the Team it only shows a 1 Gbps speed. I then check the properties of the team and notice that one of my ports is in Standby and one is Active.

I have even tried to Force one port as Master and Force one as Slave which didn't work. I then tried to set the CT  card as primary in the team and the other as secondary but I still can't get the CT card out of Standby.

Capture.JPG

If I disable then enable the team it will pop up as 2 Gbps with both ports active.

What am I doing wrong? Could this be a setting with my switch? I am using the Cisco SG200-08 switch.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards,

Toby

Re: Intel HD 3000 driver causes bluescreen.

Hi s.pfluegl,

I recommend installing the graphics driver ASUS provides in their website.  The drivers they provide have been tested and validated to work fine in your computer. The drivers we have in our website are generic.  We cannot guarantee those drivers will work fine on every OEM system.  this is the link to ASUS website https://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_ZENBOOK_UX31E/#support_Download

I recommend you uninstall the driver from Programs and Features in Control Panel first and then install the driver from ASUS website.

Hi Toby,

Maybe the problem is a refresh or display issue. I wonder if you close the properties of any deivces and the team and then come back to look, if both ports show active. When you disable and enable the team, then the status would get updated. Can you tell anything from the swich end about whether both links are enabled?

@ electronicsguy

I tried what you suggested above and now I'm getting the message 'Unable to start My WiFi Technology'. I also noticed that I'm getting the yellow triangle with '!' next to the Intel Centrino Wireless -N  + WiMax 6150 driver in device drivers.

Something I noticed is that the driver listed on Sony's driver and software website is a 6150 while the original specs from my model list my WiFi adapter as a 6250. Please understand that I've had the 6150 driver installed and am able to connect wirelessly to the internet. I had run the 6250 driver at some point and this didn't work but I may give it one more try.

I'm so tired of ripping out and re-installing these drivers (every time I do, I can't connect to the internet so I have to run system restore). I feel like I'm about to cut my losses - after, of course, I write a not so friendly review of Intel's retarded product!
